A few weeks ago, a lifelong dream of mine came true: I had the chance to go to Paris. And there was no way I could visit my dream city without squeezing in at least one photo shoot for Faux Fancy.
Spring in Paris is every bit as gorgeous as the songs and movies that pay homage to it suggest. However, the weather tends to fluctuate a bit, from the possibility of a chilly, rainy morning to a warm, sunny afternoon.
Luckily, I was prepared for just such conditions. My (overstuffed) suitcase was packed with layers: sleeveless dresses paired with easy, wrinkle-resistant blazers, lightweight sweaters, a pair of good jeans and two versatile scarves. For outerwear, I switched off between a pink trench coat and a grey leather jacket.
Before heading to Paris, I picked up two pairs of tights from an H&M in London, one in gray and one in black. I noticed in both cities that very few of the women bared their legs completely this time of year. The tights provided just enough warmth to keep my legs protected from the slight spring chill, without having to sacrifice the slew of dresses I’d packed.
My silver flats, black suede booties and low-heeled slouchy brown boots enabled me to walk all over town each day without complaint. And my Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. transitioned easily from day to night, large enough to hold a Paris Metro map, but small enough to look more than appropriate for cocktail hour.
